Media bounty after PA interview

A few weeks ago the mega talented photographer Jane Barlow from the Press Association visited the workshop and took some great shots for a story which was to be featured in the ‘Uplifting’ section of the PA website. The story and photos were available to all media outlets on Monday morning 22nd Feb. I thought Jane’s photos and story would be picked up by one or two media publications but I wasn't prepared for the massive response!

On Monday morning the whatsapp/instagram messages were flooding in about my face being in multiple newspapers. Double page spreads in the Courier and even a front page on the Scotsman with articles reaching as far as Ireland! I think the story of the Jan/Feb snow creating a surge of orders must have reached about 10 papers in total around the country and beyond. I especially enjoyed the collection of funny ski themed headlines in the classic press tradition. ‘Slippery slopes of Covid’ etc.

I also was asked to appear at 6am on the BBC Radio Scotland business programme about my business and the state of Scottish skiing in lockdown Scotland. I also managed to include a few thoughts about climate change and skiing, namely the tension between the idea of our lust for cold weather at odds with the amount of energy swallowed by the ski industry each winter. Very much still the inspiration for my company being as green as possible in terms of materials and energy usage.

All in all it was quite a surreal Monday morning that I won't forget in a hurry. Thanks to Jane and the PA for writing the article and I welcome any new visitors to the website to email me through the contact form to enquire about custom skis and projects.
